How we see children
ATAP sees children as capable of more than they have yet been shown. The work is developmental, with room for academics, athletics, awareness, and arts. The point is to broaden what a student knows and has seen beyond the borders of their own community. That is what discovering what's possible looks like in practice.
Rooms hold the materials for the day's work: reading and homework corners, tables for art, open floor for movement. Students work in small groups, with teachers nearby to step in and question rather than answer. A table of papers and pencils looks like study. A corner of brushes and cardboard looks like the same.
ATAP is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, founded in 2007 by Carlos and Tiffani Worthy. Dr. Tiffani Worthy is CEO and Chairwoman of the Board. Dr. Carlos Worthy is Chief Operating Officer. ATAP serves over 500 children annually with out-of-school-time programs, and more than 400 youth across Burlington County each year. Families can ask about registration and tuition details.
What you notice in practice
Teachers work beside students rather than over them. They sit at the table, ask what a child is working on, and let the answer guide the next step. Groups stay small enough that a teacher can notice who is stuck and who is ready for more.
The room has zones for different kinds of work, so students move between focused homework, hands-on projects, and open activity. The day is paced with whole-group time, small-group work, and free stretches. Homework helper runs Monday through Thursday, and Fun Friday crafts gives the week a lighter close.
How we work with families
Pickup happens by 6 pm Monday through Friday, and ATAP asks families to arrive promptly. Staff talk with parents at the door about how the day went. If you have a question about your child's work or behavior, you can ask a teacher directly, and the office follows up on anything that needs more time.
New families start with the registration and any tuition deposit, and ATAP encourages applying for BCCAP or subsidies early so eligibility is confirmed before the first day. During the first weeks, staff watch how a child settles and share what they notice with you. Ask the center what the first-day routine will be for your child.
